About

I am fortunate to live in what I think is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I was not born in Nova Scotia, but this is where I feel most at home, rooted.

IMG_1685Nova Scotia has a long history of artisanal creation – weaving, pottery, art, writing… it’s all here. I am constantly beguiled by the beauty of locally-made functional items, the whimsy of our art, and the depth and playfulness of the writing created here.

I see it in fine shops in “The City”, at craft fairs and church halls, artists’ studios and in grandma’s rec rooms – things of beauty made by hand, with an eye to functionality and beauty.

Berwick Weaving Company is my contribution to this tradition. I love everything about what I do – planning the project, playing with colours, tailoring it just so  for the recipients.  I am one person, working in a home studio – I don’t work like a machine, and my work will be idiosyncratic and original.

If you see something you like, or would like me to make something original for you, please contact me through this page of via email.  You can also see albums of my work or contact me on my Facebook page.

  1. Hello!
I have just become the owner of a Millville Loom identical to yours. Would you happen to know any of the history of this particular loom?
    Thank you,
    Myles

    • Hi there. LUCKY you!! Alas, I’ve since sold my Millville, and i regret it so much. Such an elegant loom, and that hanging beater was so great. Sigh. All i know is that they come from Millville New Brunswick. I heard that they were made there pre ww2 but the company closed by the war.
